and Lunch at
Golden Gate Yacht Club

1849 Washington St,

San Francisco, CA 94109

SATURDAY, March 16, 2019, 8:51AM

HOSTS: Ron Laurie and Les Hamilton

At the JAG Candy Store meeting in 2018, a feature was the 1/5th scale clay model of concept of a contemporary E-Type created by Andy Kurniawan at the Academy of Art University. In March JAG members have a rare opportunity to visit and learn more of the Academy of Art. This access is not available to the public and has been specifically designed by automotive historian, Robert Devlin, for a limited number of JAG members. As part of the visit we will :

  • Learn about the Academy of Art Industrial Design and Automotive Restoration programs from Tom Mantano, Head of Industrial Design (and father of the Mazda MX-5 Miata) and Lloyd Buck, Head of the Automotive Restoration program.
  • Tour the design studios, modelling and paint shops.
  • Meet with students and faculty of the Industrial Design School.
  • Tour part the University Car Collection including a selection of British vehicles.

After the visit, we will drive to the Golden Gate Yacht Club where we will enjoy lunch while overlooking the Bay with views of Alcatraz and Angel Island.

Parking at the Academy of Art is limited and so we will need to carpool to use the parking near Washington and Van Ness. Please indicate below if you will drive and have an extra seat or if you will be driving with another JAG member.
