Moss Beach in April

Exercise your Cat & have Brunch
at
The Moss Beach Distillery -
April 8

Hosted by Phil and Barbara Endliss

NEARLY SOLD OUT

Join us for our first drive of the year followed by a delicious brunch with spectacular ocean views.  We will meet at four Bay Area locations to caravan to the Moss Beach Distillery located at 140 Beach Way, Moss Beach.  This will be our third trip to this California Point of Interest.

During Prohibition the Moss Beach Distillery was an ideal spot for rum running and bootleggers and became a ‘speakeasy’ establishment. The restaurant is located on a cliff above a secluded beach with fabulous views. It’s famous both because mystery writer Dashiell Hammett frequented the establishment and used it as a setting for his detective stories and because long time JAG member Bernie Stein worked there in his teens!

The restaurant has a resident ghost - The Blue Lady - who haunts the building. Bernie might even share some of his stories about many of the “private activities” that occurred at the restaurant while he was a staff member a few years ago.

We will all assemble in the parking lot south of the entrance by 10:30 to exhibit our Cats and then start brunch at 11:00 when the restaurant opens.

The brunch includes:

  • Fresh baked pastries (unlimited supply)
  • Fruit cup
  • A bottomless glass of orange juice, sparkling wine or Mimosas
  • Coffee or tea and so drinks
  • Choice of one entrée to be selected at the brunch

  • ?Due to the room size, this event must be limited to 48 people, so make your reservation early. Cost for the brunch will be $45 per person with seating limited to 48. Non-members may attend ($5 additional fee applies) but club members will have priority due to the limited seating. ?

  • For those wanting to participate in the drive, we’ll meet at several locations (South Bay, Peninsula, East Bay and San Francisco) to caravan to the Distillery. The exact locations will be sent to you via email at the beginning of April. Please let the drive leader for the site you’ll be joining know you be on their drive.
  • If you drive directly to the Distillery, please allow ample time to arrive by 10:30 as the usual beach traffic can be heavy.
